The meeting opened with a review of the last meeting’s minutes. A motion was made toadopt these minutes; it was unanimously voted to adopt.Emily started with an update on the official opening of the Canfield new mountain bikebuild. Three miles of purpose-built mountain bike singletrack were carefully crafted byour expert Build Crew as the first part of a multi-phase system on Canfield Mountain. Itis open to the public and ready to ride! With this complete, the Crews are shifting to field operations in the Magee RangerStation area while Scott and Spencer will begin flagging the next phase of the NewBuild.Next, discussion shifted to an update on the New Baldy Trailhead Parking Lot projectconcept. There have been productive discussions at the Agency level and the next stepmay include Emily presenting at a City Council meeting. NRTP hopes to highlight thebenefits of this project such as safe access to, and parking for, our public lands. Part ofthe proposed concept would also impact Arnie Rains and other Baldy neighbors andhis approval would need to be sought in order to bring trails on or near his land.A status update from Emily on the Selkirk Hut System RFP notes a number ofchallenges but also the potential for incredible opportunities for recreation in the region. Thus, we still intend to pursue avenues for success.Emily describes how the USFS is asking NRTP to be the primary applicant on the RACgrant.Looking forward, NRTP is gearing up to organize an event for National Federal LandsDay on Saturday, September 26. Initial plans include restoration at Evan’s Landing,Maiden Rock, or Talache. Ideally, we would be able to bring tools and equipment in tosupport a larger event, similar to the one celebrating National Trails Day on June 6. Weare hoping to have representation from other partner organizations as well asvolunteers. In the off season, NRTP will continue to pursue grant funding through RAC and otheropportunities. Additionally, we will be bringing Al Casile (from LCTA) to our table toassist with planning. He will be joining at the next Board Meeting in August. The meeting concluded with an open roundtable and review of action items.A motion to adjourn was proposed and adopted with quorum. The meeting was adjourned at 18:02.
