🛠 What’s Next: From Lightning Creek to Trestle Creek

We’re not on the fire line right now. And with closures in effect and crews actively working the area, we won’t be there until it's safe. But when the smoke clears, we will be.
And in the meantime, we’re preparing to help elsewhere.

In Spring 2026, NRTP will lead a large-scale restoration effort in the Trestle Creek drainage, just west of the current fire. That area was hit hard by a 3,400-acre fire in 2023, and the trails remain dangerous—choked with deadfall, washed out by erosion, and in places, entirely lost.

Thanks to a RAC grant, we’ll be clearing those trails, re-establishing access, and helping the forest begin its long recovery. It's slow, hard, and deeply rewarding work—and it’s just the beginning.
